Darren was born in Murwillumbah, Northern NSW. He has been a music educator for over 30 years and completed his tertiary education at the Canberra School of Music, The University of Cape town, The Royal Conservatory of Music and Dance, The Hague, Netherlands and the University of Tasmania.
He holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education, a Masters In trumpet performance and a Doctorate of Education specialising in conducting pedagogy. He has conducted numerous professional orchestras in Ukraine, Moldova and Bulgaria.
